2012 Tampa Am | Skatepark of Tampa 20-Year Anniversary Party Photos

Saturday night during Tampa Am weekend is always the night for the huge party/ show. This year’s party was extra big considering it was the 20-Year Anniversary Party. When the evening starts off with antics from the “Senator”…things are bound to get epic. Cuates, The Shrine, Killer Mike and Souls of Mischief all provided killer sounds and entertainment all night long, while the staff at CZAR kept the drinks flowing. – Nicks

20 Years of SPoT | 93 ‘Til Infinity – Part 2

I stopped by Part 2 of 4 of the 93 ‘Til Infinity art show series at The Bricks last weekend. Four of the many decks that were submitted by various artists for the show were chosen to be printed on limited edition Skatepark of Tampa boards and will be available for sale all across the world. There were also a bunch of killer old classic photos of some pretty legendary people skating the park over the years. Check the Upcoming Events page on the mag for all the festivities. Also, be sure to check out SPoT 20 Year Experience Episode 3 with Felipe Gustavo below. – Nicks

20 Years of SPoT

In 2013, the Skatepark of Tampa will be celebrating their 20 Year Anniversary. Part of the celebrating has already gotten underway with 93 ‘Til Infinity, a 4-part artshow series at The Bricks. 93 ‘Til Infinity features 20 different artists creating artwork from their own personal experiences at SPoT through the years. Part 1 took place a few weeks back and Sean Orr was on hand to snap some photos (see below). Skatepark of Tampa’s photos are here. Part 2 of 93 ‘Til Infinity is coming up on Saturday, November 17th at The Bricks and also includes the release of Moat Water, which is SPoT’s 20th Anniversary Brew from the folks at Cigar City Brewing!

Also, to help celebrate SPoT’s milestone, every Wednesday from now until the Tampa Pro in March, the RIDE Channel will air a new episode of Skatepark of Tampa 20 Year Experience. 20 different Pros, Ams, and industry leaders share their personal SPoT stories and experiences with you. Check out the Intro with SPoT founder Brian Schaefer and Episode 1 with Stefan Janoski below.

SRQ SK8 JAM

Last Friday, Sk8skool and Ringling College of Art & Design’s Project Management class combined forces to bring us the SRQ SK8 JAM. $5 got you an evening of live music, artist booths, food & drink, and skateboarding. 100% of the proceeds went to Sk8skool to help with operational costs at P(a)yne Skate Park and to the eventual elimination of user-fees at the skate park altogether. I had a prior obligation which, unfortunately, allowed me to only be at this event for a short time. As far as I could tell, there were at least 200 people there, probably more! I did manage to shoot a few photos. – Nicks.
