SPoT Life | Lakai Team in Tampa Bay
Some of the Lakai team was in Tampa Bay recently hosting the Spring Roll All Ages Contest at SPoT. While they were here Stevie Perez, Sebo Walker, and Miles Silva did a ton of skating. Unfortunately Guy Mariano was injured so he didn’t get to skate. With the SPoT Life crew as their tour guides they skated the new Lakeland park, downtown Tampa, Bradenton Riverwalk park, the Fun City Go-Kart Track D.I.Y. spot, and ended their weekend at the Bro Bowl. But, it seems as though there is something in the water in Lakeland, because the Lakeland crew is, and always has been passionate about skateboarding. Lakeland is the hometown of a dude named Andrew Reynolds…maybe you’ve heard of him?
Anyway, these wheels are the real deal. Not too wide, not too thin, simple yet refined, grippy when they need to be and forgiving when that is necessary. Lakeland Skaters Alliance Meeting
Lakeland, Florida needs a proper city-funded skatepark, and the dudes at the Lakeland Skaters Alliance are ready to do what it takes to make sure that becomes reality. There is an open-forum meeting tomorrow night at Evolution Records to discuss the need for a park, as well as design and location ideas. If you have an opportunity to make it out, please do so and share your ideas with them. And, if you can’t make it please share the Lakeland Skaters Alliance page with your friends to help support their cause.
Alex Peavey Interview
I originally met Alex last year at the Ring of Fire Skate Jam/ Contest at the (now defunct) Ghetto Skate Facility in Zephyrhills, Florida. Then I ran into him again at the 3rd Annual Ghetto Bowl Bash back at the end of April. Alex won the 18 & Up Sponsored Division that day, and came real close to taking the “Best Trick” as well. Alex is a ripper and one hell of a nice guy. He was also cool enough to set aside some time to do this interview for the mag. Keep your eyes on this dude, because he is coming up fast. – Nicks.
