2013 Tampa Pro | Friday Evening – “Legends” Vert & Bowl Sesh
Unfortunately, the “Legends” Vert Session at the 2013 Tampa Pro turned out to be only about an hour of practice between storms. It was a hell of a lot of fun while it lasted though! I managed to get a few good shots, and a pretty heated bowl session resulted because of the rain. Make sure to tune into the live web-cast at 2 p.m. EST HERE. – Nicks

Gatorade Free Flow Tour @SPoT
Saturday was the Gatorade Free Flow Tour stop at the Skatepark of Tampa. The Gatorade Free Flow Tour is the official amateur series of the Dew Tour, and through a series of 30 regional contests across the country, gives local rippers the opportunity to go from “Flow to Pro”. The winner of each regional event gets a trip to compete in the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals, which are held in conjunction with the Dew Tour events in Portland and Salt Lake City. The winners in the Finals then get an opportunity to compete against the pros at the Dew Tour Championships, which are October 13-16, 2011 in Las Vegas.
I managed to get some photos of the Skate Vert Finals, but unfortunately, couldn’t stay for the Skate Street. Personally, I think it is killer that there is a whole new generation of kids coming up that are stoked on skating, vert, pools, bowls, etc. It is obviously, at least partially, the direct result of the fact that there are a lot more skateparks around these days. Regardless, it is very refreshing, I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love street skating, I grew up skating street. I just always fantasized about skating vert ramps or pools, there just weren’t ever really any around by the time I started skating.
Anyway, these kids were absolutely killing it! There were a bunch of the local shredders representing, including Nick Wallace, Brennan Campbell, Issac Crawford, and Jake Ilardi, as well as some east coast rippers that made the trip, such as Clay Kreiner, Beaver Fleming, and Collin Graham. There was some serious grown-man skateboarding going down on that vert ramp! In the end, Clay Kreiner from South Carolina walked away with first place and a trip to the Gatorade Free Flow Tour Finals. Congratulations Clay! Also, a big shout out to Devin Abreu and Tyler Hunger for taking first in the Skate Street Advanced and Beginner Finals, respectively. Devin and Tyler are both local rippers who have been shutting down all of the contests lately…congrats guys! Good Luck! Check out all of the results here. – Nicks
