This is our Small/Local Business review segment! Where we take a look at up and coming start up brands and businesses.
First up, Ultra Slappy Wax out of Bradenton, FL. Ultra Slappy Wax is a local skate wax company ran by Shawn Koi. Shawn’s a skateboarder, dedicated dad, and driven entrepreneur.
It’s always killer to see someone break out the norm and start their own thing. Shawn’s been putting in a lot of work over the years. Officially launching Ultra Slappy Wax back in 2013, he’s been on the grind ever since.
If you went to the most recent Tampa Pro chances are you could of crossed paths with Shawn. He had his booth set up at SPoT and hung out for the weekend. Shawn’s been hustle and gaining clientele and support across Florida.
He’s doing something he’s passionate about, while being a good father in the process. Shawn’s son, famously dubbed “Slappy Wax Kid” is usually by his Dad’s side and stoked for the day. Shawn’s one of the hardest working dudes in the Florida skate scene hands down. Make sure to give them a follow on Instagram at @ultraslappywax and support small business in the process.
To name a few shops in Florida carrying Shawn’s goods… Westside Skate Shop , Skate Park of Tampa, and Galactic G in Orlando Fl. Make sure to click on the highlighted words above to visit and check out some of what Ultra Slappy Wax has to offer!
Thanks for reading and remember, support local!

Stoked to be part of such a great cause this Holiday season.
The 2015 Boards for Bros Annual Holiday Distribution was a huge success. Santa and his helpers killed it all day handing out skateboards, giving lessons and showing the new skaters what it means to hang with friends and have fun. Over 175 skateboards were handed over to their new stoked owners and even a few scooters were ditched in the process! It was an amazing end to an epic year that had us distribute 525 skateboards to kids in Tampa and beyond. Endless thanks to all of our donors and volunteers who have made this possible. 2016 is going to be bigger and better than ever (we already have over 35 kids on our distribution waiting list) so let’s keep growing this and change even more lives, one skateboard at a time.

Nick Murphy was one of the first people that I met when I started doing No Comply Skateboard Mag 2 1/2 years ago. Nick is a really rad dude…he is motivated, he has a great attitude, and he shreds. He has talked about wanting to make the move to California for quite a while now, and he is finally doing it. All of your Florida Friends and Family are super stoked for you man. We will miss you, but we support you 100%. Don’t even think about looking back. Cheers! – Nicks.
Franks For Nothing is a new feature on www.skateparkoftampa.com from local skateboarder/ videographer Frank Branca. Take a look at the first episode which features Chris Jata, Dustin Eggling, and Robbie Kirkland, skating in the streets of Tampa. Enjoy.
Some of the Lakai team was in Tampa Bay recently hosting the Spring Roll All Ages Contest at SPoT. While they were here Stevie Perez, Sebo Walker, and Miles Silva did a ton of skating. Unfortunately Guy Mariano was injured so he didn’t get to skate. With the SPoT Life crew as their tour guides they skated the new Lakeland park, downtown Tampa, Bradenton Riverwalk park, the Fun City Go-Kart Track D.I.Y. spot, and ended their weekend at the Bro Bowl. Check it.
Andrew Reynolds came to town for the Grand Opening Celebration of the new park in his hometown of Lakeland, FL. A lot of local shredders got clips in this one. Enjoy.
